Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been nominated for a special award for Brazilian players plying their trade in Europe – and you can cast a vote in the No.10's favour online throughout December.

The 22-year-old has been included on a 30-man shortlist for the Samba Gold trophy, which will be decided on the basis of selections by fans, former players and coaches of Brazilian football, and esteemed journalists.

Coutinho takes his place in the poll at sambafoot.com alongside the likes of Barcelona's Neymar and Daniel Alves, four players from Chelsea, and powerful centre-back Thiago Silva - winner of the accolade last year.

A pivotal contributor as the Reds battled for the Barclays Premier League title at the conclusion of 2013-14, most notably with a stunning decider against Manchester City in April, the attacker recently regained a place in the Brazil squad.

His combination of vision, exquisite passing and a tenacity that belies his stature have made Coutinho an Anfield favourite during almost two years as a Liverpool player, with 66 appearances and nine goals to date.
