The coroner at the new inquests into the Hillsborough disaster, Lord Justice Goldring, today laid out the intended schedule for the hearings in 2015.

Having commenced on March 31, 2014, the inquests into the deaths of 96 supporters will pause for a two-week break after tomorrow.

Lord Justice Goldring told the jury on Thursday: "We are very conscious of the time you are devoting to these inquests and how difficult it must be for each of you in your personal lives.

"As you will appreciate, in the inquests we are covering a huge amount of ground. I am conscious that we are taking longer than we originally anticipated.

"In broad terms, while not agreed by everyone in every aspect, it comes to this: the evidence gathering should begin on Monday March 2, 2015 and the part dealing with the movements of those who died should begin on Monday March 23.

"All evidence should be completed by November 6 and my summing up should start on November 16. It's bound to take a little time, although I would hope not longer than 10 days.

"When the summing up has been completed you obviously will retire. You must plainly have sufficient time to reach your conclusions.

"The precise implications of that are not at the moment clear. What is clear is that there must be a real risk that the inquests will not be completed until the early part of 2016."
