Liverpool Ladies today announced that Natasha Dowie has penned a new contract with the club.

The reigning Women's Super League champions have agreed a fresh deal with the striker after the Reds' No.9 played a key role in back-to-back title victories.

Dowie was the top scorer for Matt Beard's side last season with 13 goals in all competitions, including the opening strike in the 3-0 win against Bristol Academy on the final day of the campaign.

The prolific forward also managed an impressive 19 goals in 21 appearances during the 2013 season and was voted the FA Players' Player of the Year after finishing as the WSL top goalscorer.

On signing her new deal, Dowie said: "I am really pleased to have agreed a new contract with Liverpool Ladies. I feel as though my game has really improved since I joined the club in 2012 and to win successive WSL titles has been absolutely fantastic.

"The aim for the club now is to win even more trophies and I'm really looking forward to challenging for all four trophies next season."

Ladies manager Beard said: "I am delighted that Natasha has agreed to stay at Liverpool Ladies. She is a proven goalscorer who played an important role in both title successes, so it is another important deal for the club.

"I have no doubt that Natasha will continue to be a key player for us as we look to retain our WSL title as well as improving our performances in the cup competitions."
