Boss and Coutinho up for PL monthly prizes
Brendan Rodgers and Philippe Coutinho are in the running to claim the Barclays Premier League Manager and Player of the Month awards for February.
Liverpool continued their unbeaten league run throughout 2015 by picking up victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton after the month began with a stalemate against Everton in the Merseyside derby.
The Reds climbed from seventh to sixth place in the standings throughout February, closing the gap between themselves and fourth-placed Manchester United to just two points.
As a result, Rodgers will now vie with Swansea City boss Garry Monk, Hull City's Steve Bruce and West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis.
Coutinho, meanwhile, will go up against five fellow nominees for the prize, including Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who scooped January's trophy for the month's standout performer.
Also in the running is former Red Jonjo Shelvey, now at Swansea, Dame N'Doye of Hull, Arsenal's Mezut Ozil and West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster.
The Brazilian featured in all three of Liverpool's games throughout February, serving up a sublime long-range strike in the victory over Southampton at St Mary's Stadium, which was today revealed as Reds fans' favourite strike of the month.
Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez shared the Player of the Month prize the last time Liverpool were victorious in the category, back in March 2014, while Rodgers was twice winner of the manager's award during last season.
The Reds duo will find out how they fared in the most recent round of awards when the winners of the honours will be announced at 10am on Friday morning.
