Daniel Sturridge admits glory in the FA Cup this season would be 'huge' for Liverpool and potentially a platform to regularly bring trophies back to Anfield in the years ahead.

The Reds sealed a spot in the competition's semi-finals on Wednesday night, with Philippe Coutinho's driven finish enough to overcome Blackburn Rovers in a replay.

Aston Villa await in the last four at Wembley next Sunday and excitement is high among the players and fans for the opportunity to journey south to the national stadium.

Back at the beginning of the campaign, Brendan Rodgers set his team the objective of lifting a trophy - and with the prospect now much nearer, Sturridge acknowledged what it would mean.

"It would be huge for everyone - the players, the fans and the staff," the striker said as Liverpool's new home kit was revealed at a special Anfield event on Friday.

"We've been waiting a while to have some success and we hope it's this season. That can be the platform for a long timeframe for us having success in the future."

More than 1,000 fans gathered at Anfield to catch the first glimpse of the shirt, shorts and socks designed by New Balance that their heroes will sport next season.

As he spoke in front of those supporters, Sturridge explained the importance of the bond between players and Kopites and how it feels to him to represent them.

The No.15 added: "It's an unbelievable feeling to play at Anfield. They are our 12th man. We try our best in every game to get three points for the fans, because they mean a lot to us - like we mean to them."
