Robbie rewards kids' anti-racism work
Liverpool FC ambassador Robbie Fowler rewarded the hard work of youngsters from across the country on Tuesday at Show Racism the Red Card's (SRtRC) School Awards Ceremony.
SRtRC is an anti-racism educational charity that utilises the high-profile status of football and its star players in order to help tackle racism in society.
The event, which was held in the Reds Suite at Anfield, awarded work produced by school children across the country on the theme of anti-racism.
Thousands of young people of all ages and abilities entered this year’s competition producing a fantastic array of artwork, creative writing, film and music pieces.
Robbie was on hand to present each award to the winners alongside LFC’s first black player, and pioneering patron of SRtRC, Howard Gayle.
Robbie said: “It was an honour to be invited along to the event to hand out the awards and prizes. It was great to see such a high standard of work produced by so many talented youngsters on a very important theme.”
SRtRC deputy chief executive, Paul Kearns, added: "On behalf of SRtRC I would like to thank Liverpool FC for hosting our awards ceremony this year and making it such a fantastic event.
"We have a longstanding relationship with the club and we are thankful for their continued support.”
Other VIP guests included; Liverpool Ladies star Ashley Hodson, PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor, CBeebies presenter Alex Winters and TV personality Lisa Rogers.
