Philippe Coutinho opened his goalscoring account for Brazil with a sensational individual strike against Mexico this evening.

The Liverpool attacker was named from the start for the international friendly in Sao Paulo, as Dunga's team prepare for the Copa America.

Coutinho grasped the opportunity to stake a claim for a place in his country's XI by producing a hugely impressive display across 70 minutes too.

The highlight of his performance was the opening goal of the encounter for the Selecao - the 22-year-old's first at senior international level.

Fed possession in the left channel, Coutinho expertly rolled around a defender, darted along the byline and deceived the goalkeeper to swipe home.

Diego Tardelli grabbed a second for Brazil nine minutes later and a 2-0 victory was secured.

Coutinho and co face Honduras in another friendly in midweek before their Copa America quest kicks off against Peru next Sunday.
