Williams and co into World Cup semis
Liverpool Ladies' Fara Williams moved a step closer to Women's World Cup success by helping England reach the semi-finals on Saturday night.
The midfielder played 79 minutes of an historic match for her country, against tournament hosts Canada in Vancouver.
Jodie Taylor and Lucy Bronze struck early goals, the latter from a Williams assist, to earn England an advantage to preserve at BC Place.
And although Christine Sinclair responded shortly before the interval, Mark Sampson's side secured a 2-1 result to reach the last four for the first time.
Williams and co will now face reigning champions Japan in the semi-finals on Wednesday July 1.
