Divock Origi has hailed Liverpool's swoop for Christian Benteke, expressing excitement at the prospect of linking up with his Belgium international teammate on a more regular basis.

Benteke completed his move to Anfield from Aston Villa on Wednesday, signing a long-term contract to ensure he becomes the third Belgian currently at the club, alongside Origi and Simon Mignolet.

Origi now faces more competition for a starting berth up front but insisted he is happy to see his talented compatriot join the Reds.

"[He's] a wonderful signing, I think," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"I know him from the Belgian national team, he has a lot of ability, a lot of qualities.

"I'm happy for him and also for us that he's part of the team.

"I'm always happy to play with good players, especially Christian.

"I think everybody knows his strengths. He's very strong, very big, good in the air, he has good feet, he can score.

"He's the modern striker and it's a very good signing."

The 20-year-old also explained that he is keen to learn from Benteke, who is four years older and has three years' worth of Premier League experience under his belt.

"Even with the national team he always tries to help," Origi added.

"He's four years older then me so I'm happy to have experienced players around me so I can progress and also learn from them."

After agreeing a move from Lille to Liverpool last summer, Origi returned to the French club on a season-long loan in order to secure more playing time.

As a result, he is only now beginning the process of getting to know his new teammates and learning the methods of manager Brendan Rodgers.

But he believes the 2015 pre-season tour has been helpful in that regard.

"I think the team have played a lot of good games," he continued.

"I'm happy that we are all here, we can learn, we can progress, we can work on tactics and prepare for the new season.

"It's been nice to see the players, to be able to play with them, to have the feeling of what it is to be a player with Liverpool.

"I'm feeling better and better and playing better and better so I'm happy."
