Liverpool's summer signings have settled in quickly and can make an important impact – especially going forward – once the new season gets underway, according to Emre Can.

Brendan Rodgers has brought in seven players since the end of 2014-15, while Divock Origi has also joined up with the club a year after agreeing his transfer from Lille.

With international commitments, the pre-season tour and holidays now concluded, the full squad have been training together this week at Melwood.

It's given Can an opportunity to become better acquainted with the batch of additions, and the No.23 is buoyed by the speed of their transition and the quality they bring.

"It has all gone very well - they all seem to have settled in quickly, and I think all of the new guys are feeling good," he explained to Liverpoolfc.com.

"Liverpool Football Club only ever buys players in order to strengthen the squad and team, and it would make no sense not to have done so during this summer window as well."

Like the 21-year-old, who featured for Germany at youth level in June, Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino took the first steps of their pre-season preparation with Liverpool last week.

The pair arrive on Merseyside with formidable attacking records and Can expects both to bring an exciting, fresh element to the side.

He said of Firmino: "He is a very, very good player - he scores a lot of great goals, and that's what we need.

"He plays like a lot of Brazilians - he's a fighter, and technically very strong and capable, and that can only help win matches for us.

"Christian is another very strong player, he works very hard. We see in the training groups just how much effort he puts in.

"And the Liverpool fans have already seen last season what a robust player he is. He's also good in the air, and all round a very good purchase for us."

With a single season in English football under his belt, Can knows there's plenty of development ahead for him personally.

Which is why he is also relishing the opportunity to line up alongside James Milner and study the title winner at close quarters.

"James is a great player, and he has a lot of experience in the Premier League and at the highest level, so I am sure there will be a lot I can learn from him," the German added.
