Ahead of today's mouthwatering encounter with arch-rivals Manchester United, LFCTV GO sat down with two of Liverpool's greatest ever strikers, Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler, to get their take on the world-renowned fixture.

The deadly duo fired some famous goals into the Old Trafford net with the liver bird proudly on their chest in the past, and they reminisce on some of those golden moments in an exclusive video feature.

Here are some of the stand-out memories the pair recall...

Rush on netting his first ever goal against United for Liverpool in 1992 at Anfield: “That was something special for me because we knew Leeds United had won their game, so the atmosphere was electric.

“It was my very first goal against United and I remember the crowd were singing my name. They seemed as desperate as me to get my first goal against them and it was a big relief that I did score against them.

“The fact it stopped them winning the league was special as well and I actually went off injured after I scored!”

Rush on breaking Roger Hunt’s scoring record at Old Trafford in 1992: “That was special for me, not only because it was past Peter Schmeichel but it broke ‘Sir’ Roger Hunt’s goalscoring record.

“It was a proud moment for me. It took me so long but it was worth the wait to get the goal to beat Roger.”

Fowler on upstaging Cantona's comeback with two strikes at Old Trafford in 1995: “I didn’t steal the limelight, even though I scored two goals and got Man of the Match because it was all remembered for the Cantona comeback, because he had been out of action for eight to nine months.

“We went behind very early on in the game and then I scored two. The first goal I just caught it so sweetly with my left foot and I was delighted because it was my first goal against United for Liverpool.

“The second one is more remembered for me shoving Gary Neville off the ball and then scoring!

“Cantona got all the plaudits because it was his first game back and he scored a penalty to make it 2-2, but we were a good team back then and we had some great players.”
