Sunday's clash with Southampton will be taken in by a very special visitor to Anfield – the 1,000th child to benefit from the Box4Kids experience.

Launched in 2010 by Liverpool fan Barrie Wells, and now present in over 40 major sport and entertainment venues across the United Kingdom, Box4Kids aims to bring enjoyment to seriously ill children and their families from the comfort of executive boxes.

The scheme, which is part of the Barrie Wells Trust, believes these boxes provide a safe and relaxing environment for children and most importantly the opportunity to be treated like a VIP for the day.

The experiences provide quality time for each child and their guest, away from the day-to-day challenges they face with their illnesses.

Organisations are able to simply donate their boxes to the Barrie Wells Trust for individual events and Barrie and his team then handle all the logistics for the day.

Sunday’s 1,000th guest celebrations at Anfield will include the likes of Robbie Fowler, Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish, as well as heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson.

One such child who has benefited from the project is 11-year-old Liam Triggs, who was recently invited to Melwood to spend the day with Daniel Sturridge.

Our cameras captured his special day, while Sturridge provides the narration for our heart-warming video which explains the benefits of the Box4Kids scheme.
