On this day in 2003, John Arne Riise scored an emphatic Kop-end equaliser in a thrilling Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal.

The Norwegian defender cancelled out Robert Pires' opener at Anfield, latching onto Emile Heskey's pass at the edge of the box and lashing in powerfully beyond David Seaman.

The Gunners restored their lead in the second period, but Heskey's injury time helped Gerard Houllier's team claim a point from an entertaining clash on Merseyside.
