10-man Liverpool take derby spoils...

Liverpool overcame the dismissal of Steven Gerrard to beat Everton 3-1 at Anfield in 2006.

After Gerrard picked up his second yellow card 18 minutes in, Phil Neville scored an own goal right before half-time to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.

Luis Garcia added a second within minutes of the restart, before Tim Cahill grabbed one back for the Blues to set up a tense final half-hour.

But then Andy van der Meyde was given his marching orders too, and Harry Kewell secured the three points late on.

Captain strikes late...

Skipper Jamie Redknapp led by example to score a late winner against Newcastle United at Anfield in 2000.

It was set to be a frustrating 1-1 draw until the midfielder struck in the 88th minute to give Gerard Houllier's side the points, after Alan Shearer cancelled out Titi Camara's opener.

In his post-match comments, Redknapp was delighted with his effort and said: "It was the most fulfilling goal of my career."

Toshack hits two...

John Toshack scored a brace to help Liverpool record a 4-0 win over Newcastle in 1975 and put them one point behind table-toppers Everton.

Kevin Keegan opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Toshack found the back of net twice either side of half-time.

And for the fourth, Terry McDermott scored against his former club to complete the rout 72 minutes in.
