Brazil looked to be coasting to victory after goals from Douglas Costa in the opening minute and Renato Augusto gave them a commanding lead.

However, Edinson Cavani pulled a goal back and former Liverpool hero Luis Suarez then marked his international return with a priceless equaliser.

Coutinho almost grabbed the winner but was denied by a fine save and Suarez also had chances, but the game ended in a draw.

Brazil now face Paraguay on Wednesday.

Martin Skrtel played the opening 82 minutes as Slovakia were held to a goalless draw by Latvia in an international friendly on Friday night.

Liverpool’s No.37 marked his return from injury to play for his country who remain stuck on 99 international wins after their 251st match.

Skrtel and Slovakia next face Republic of Ireland on Tuesday night.

Mamadou Sakho was an unused substitute as France beat Holland 3-2 on an emotional night in Amsterdam, as tributes were paid to the legendary Johan Cruyff.

The match was temporarily halted after 14 minutes as the Ajax Arena held a minute’s applause in memory of Cruyff who died on Thursday.

Sakho and France are back in action on Tuesday night when Russia are the visitors to the Stade de France.
