Divock Origi knew Liverpool could not be denied a place in the Europa League last four by Borussia Dortmund on Thursday evening as soon as Mamadou Sakho's equaliser went in.

Just 13 minutes of normal time remained when the French defender diverted a corner in at the Kop end, adding to strikes from Origi and Philippe Coutinho to make it 3-3 on the night and 4-4 on aggregate.

Despite Sakho bringing the teams level at Anfield, Dortmund remained on course for the semi-finals thanks to their three away goals.

However, a stoppage-time header from Dejan Lovren completed a remarkable comeback, which Origi puts down to the unity between players and fans that he sensed in the aftermath of the Reds' third.

"It's just sensational," the striker told Liverpoolfc.com. "[It] was just a special evening.

"I felt it from the first minute that we could win this game. It wouldn't be easy - we knew this.

"I think everything can happen in football. We just had to wake up. When Mama [Sakho] scored I knew it was going to be special.

"You could feel the whole stadium was one. We all wanted one thing and we were all so happy - that's something very special.

"We showed that we have qualities also. We had a lot of courage and, with the help of the crowd, we won."

Origi now feels Liverpool can go on to achieve something special at the end of his first campaign on Merseyside.

He added: "We showed that we are capable of doing great things, and in football you always have to play with a great heart, with [the] values of the club and give everything.

"Mix everything up with the supporters [and] the history of the club, then you have something special.

"We have everything in the team - we have experience, we have young players and an experienced manager.

"It will be very important for us to stay concentrated and just be focused on the cup."
