No.5: James Pearce (Liverpool Echo)
The Liverpool Echo's chief Liverpool writer James Pearce waxes lyrical about how Emre Can has turned into a vital part of the Reds engine room.
Emre Can epitomises Liverpool's transformation under Klopp this season.
Go back 12 months to the final game of the 2014-15 campaign and the young Germany international was reduced to tears in the dressing room at the Britannia Stadium.
Liverpool had been humiliated 6-1 by Stoke City and Can had endured a difficult first season in English football.
He had been played out of position at right-back, centre-back and even wing-back by Brendan Rodgers, who was never convinced about Can's ability to hold down a central midfield berth following his £10million move from Bayer Leverkusen.
However, a year on the landscape for the 22-year-old looks very different as he prepares to sign off 2015-16 by lining up for Liverpool in the Europa League final against Sevilla in Basel.
Klopp knew exactly what he was getting when he inherited Can, having watched his development in the Bundesliga, and he has proved adept at getting the best out of him.
Can has become a linchpin of the Liverpool midfield - making 48 appearances in all competitions this season.
Klopp has given him the belief to deliver at the highest level and the faith shown in him by the manager has been richly rewarded.
He reads the game so well and his range of passing is outstanding. His tactical understanding has grown the longer he's worked with Klopp on the training ground.
What I like most about him is that nothing appears to fluster him.
Even amidst the mayhem of that semi-final second leg against Villarreal at Anfield he was ice cool - a picture of composure on his return to the side. He always looked like he had more time and space on the ball than anyone else on the field.
That was a big performance, especially considering he hadn't played for three weeks due to ankle ligament damage.
Can oozed class that night as he gave Liverpool a platform to dominate.
He was equally influential in the games against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United.
Can will relish the big stage at St. Jakob-Park. It's the chance for him to showcase just how far he has come.
