Liverpool began the 1985-86 season in fine style with a 2-0 win over Arsenal under new player-manager Kenny Dalglish.

Post-Heysel, all eyes were on the Reds, but Anfield witnessed the start of a bright new era under one of their favourite sons.

Dalglish picked himself from the start as goals from Ronnie Whelan and Steve Nicol gave the hosts a 2-0 win.

Fans inside the ground may not have known it at the time, but Dalglish was about to lead his team to a league and FA Cup double in his first season at the helm.

‘Double Winners ’86 – On the March with Kenny’s Army’ is a brilliant documentary that looks back at what remains one of the club’s greatest ever achievements.
