Losing two cup finals in the space of three months would surely play on the mind of most managers for years to come - but not Jürgen Klopp.

Last season was a mixed bag for Liverpool, with the lows of Wembley Stadium and Basel being offset somewhat by thrilling, irresistible displays against the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Villarreal and both Manchester clubs.

And the Reds boss is determined to focus on the positives of 2015-16 as he prepares for his first full season in charge at Anfield.

“We’ve already had a few good moments,” Klopp told Goal. “I’ve seen my players in some games where I’ve thought: ‘Oooof!’

“There were days last season that no-one would have been able to play against us, where nobody would have liked to play against us.”

An eighth-place finish in the Premier League meant Liverpool failed to qualify for Europe for the coming campaign, but Klopp saw plenty of reason for optimism after his arrival last October.

“Everybody forgets the good games of last season because we finished eighth,” he added.

“But that is only one small number of last season. There are other numbers where we were really strong in tough situations.

“It’s easy for us to remember the bad things, and we suffer that more than we take in the good things.

“When I watch back, I have absolutely no skill for remembering the bad things. I would like that after the new season, we sit and think ‘my god, how amazing!’

“I want us to enjoy a really memorable season in the best way. To take in the good things, to enjoy our development.”

Klopp has brought seven new faces to Anfield this summer, including the likes of Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, but the boss stressed that any success the Reds enjoy this season will be down to a collective effort.

“A football team is like an orchestra, and if one new guy comes in, he can’t just play the violin or whatever because that’s what he wants,” the German continued.

“He has to wait to see what the rest of the group needs and how he fits in and you do everything as one in harmony. This is what we have worked on together. We are really a team.”
