Liverpool reached the semi-finals of the League Cup in style with a brilliant, Craig Bellamy-inspired display at Stamford Bridge.

Before the game, a minute's appplause was held in memory of Wales legend Gary Speed, whose name was sung by the travelling Kop.

And, after Andy Carroll missed a first-half penalty for the Reds, the visitors took command, with Welshman Bellamy, a close friend of Speed, acting as Chelsea's tormentor-in-chief.

Liverpool's No.39 picked out Maxi Rodriguez to net the opener, before another assist led to Martin Kelly making it 2-0 with his head.

The Reds went on to lift the League Cup at Wembley as Kenny Dalglish completed the set, ensuring he had won all domestic honours both as a player and manager with the club.
