No.5: Maxwell on the mark on Reds bow
Back on a balmy evening on Merseyside in September 1999, a dream came true for Layton Maxwell in front of the Kop.
The Welsh winger made his solitary appearance in a red shirt - and duly marked it by scoring an excellent solo goal.
On the night, Gerard Houllier's side defeated Hull 4-2 to record a 9-3 aggregate victory in the League Cup second round, second-leg tie.
Karl-Heinz Riedle fired twice and Danny Murphy was also on the mark, but Maxwell's strike took most of the post-match plaudits.
