Henderson will lead his country out for the first time in England’s World Cup qualifier against Slovenia tonight, and his vice-captain at club level believes that honour is completely merited.

"It is amazing and fully deserved...he is a great captain here," James Milner tells Liverpoolfc.com.

Liverpool have been awarded four penalties so far this season - and Milner has coolly converted all of them. 

The No.7's composure from 12 yards certainly hasn't gone unnoticed among his teammates, with Emre Can telling us: "I'm young, but I haven't seen in any of my teams so far such a good penalty taker."

A classy header from Henderson’s pinpoint cross during England’s 2-0 win over Malta on Saturday brought up Sturridge’s 100th goal for club and country.

The striker has scored 55 times in 99 appearances for Liverpool, with those goals coming against 24 different opponents.
