Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can were honoured by the German Reds at their ninth consecutive branch meeting in Liverpool.

The German Reds official supporters club was formed back in 2001, on the same day that Liverpool won the UEFA Cup after a pulsating 5-4 victory over Spanish outfit Alaves in Dortmund.

Since then, membership has grown throughout Germany, with more supporters joining regularly since Jürgen Klopp took charge of the club last year.

It was revealed at the meeting that the German Reds had named Coutinho as their Player of the Year for 2015-16, with James Milner runner-up.

Can, meanwhile, was voted the Young Player of the Year, with Divock Origi in second place.

The supporters club continues to grow from strength to strength and their recent meeting was declared an ‘oustanding success’ by branch secretary Graham Agg.

Reds legend David Fairclough was the special guest and received a rousing reception from the packed crowd.

Agg said: “It was a very special weekend, which was capped off in style on Sunday with three points when we watched the outstanding 6-1 victory over Watford.

“On behalf of German Reds chairman Ralf Lehmann and the whole of the committee, we would like to thank all of our members for travelling to Liverpool and wish them all a safe journey home.”
