Liverpool defender Ragnar Klavan has been named the Estonian Player of the Year for 2016.

The 31-year-old signed for the Reds from Bundesliga side FC Augsburg in the summer and has since made six appearances for the club, scoring one goal.

He was confirmed as the award-winner on Sunday evening after topping a poll of Estonian FA representatives and journalists, with 56 of the 62 voters nominating the centre-back as their first choice of three.

This is the third successive year and the fourth time in total that Klavan – who has amassed more than a century of caps for his country – has claimed the honour.
