Watch free: John Aldridge on why he loves Liverpool FC
Today marks 30 years since John Aldridge signed for his beloved Liverpool FC.
The Scouser stood on the Kop as a youngster, idolising Roger Hunt, and when Kenny Dalglish swooped for the Oxford United striker on January 27, 1987, it was the opportunity he had been waiting for.
Aldridge wore Hunt's famous No.8 jersey and was a ready-made replacement for the departing Ian Rush, who was set for a new adventure in Italy with Juventus.
He was part of an unstoppable front line alongside John Barnes and Peter Beardsley as Liverpool stormed to the league title in 1987-88.
Aldridge clocked up 63 goals in 104 appearances for the Reds, netting a penalty on his Anfield farewell against Crystal Palace in September 1989.
His passion for the club remains to this day - as anyone who has ever heard his co-commentaries on Liverpoolfc.com and Radio City will testify.
