Steven Gerrard's heroics had helped to send the 2006 FA Cup final against West Ham United into extra-time, but after 120 minutes the score remained locked at 3-3 at the Millennium Stadium.

When the match went to penalties, a Spanish hero emerged as goalkeeper Pepe Reina saved three spot-kicks to win the trophy for the Reds.

Reina, who was one of three Spaniards in the Rafa Benitez's team, thwarted Bobby Zamora and Paul Konchesky before denying Anton Ferdinand with the match-winning penalty save, pictured above.
