Liverpool can afford to dream 'a little bit' now that they have reached the Champions League quarter-finals – but Emre Can is not looking beyond the forthcoming tie.

The Reds will discover their next opponents in Europe’s premier club competition on Friday, with seven possible opponents for the tournament’s top scorers.

Also in the draw – which will take place from 11am GMT – are AS Roma, Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City, Sevilla and Real Madrid.

Can does not have a preference for the last-eight clash, with the breadth of quality still involved meaning Liverpool face a tough test regardless of their pairing, in his opinion.

“I’m very much looking forward to [finding out] who we play. It’s very exciting,” the midfielder told Liverpoolfc.com.

“There are just strong teams and that’s why I don’t care [who Liverpool draw]. I don’t mind who comes. It will be interesting.”

Jürgen Klopp’s side’s progress to the quarter-finals represents their best run in the Champions League since 2008-09.

Nobody within the squad is looking too far ahead, of course, but with the competition now very much at its business end, Can feels Liverpool can use the ultimate prize as a motivational tool.

“We don’t go anywhere and [just] say, ‘OK, now we will see what happens’. Of course we want to win the games,” added the No.23.

“We are in the quarter-finals and of course we have to play from game to game, but we dream a little bit of winning the Champions League.”
