Alexander-Arnold on 'world-class' Jota, Wembley chance and more
Trent Alexander-Arnold is relishing the prospect of a Wembley appearance with Liverpool fans after reaching the Carabao Cup final.
The Reds claimed a 2-0 win at Arsenal in Thursday night’s last-four second leg to set up a showpiece date against Chelsea on February 27.
That will be a first chance for Alexander-Arnold – who set up both of Diogo Jota’s goals in the victory at Emirates Stadium – to represent his club in a final at the national arena.
Post-match, he looked ahead to that opportunity and reflected on a satisfying performance versus the Gunners in an interview with Sky Sports.

On reaching his first Wembley final and how much he is looking forward to it…
Yeah, a lot. It’s obviously good for us to get there, it’s what we expect. We put in good performances in this cup along the run, we’ve performed very well. We’ve had young players and a mix of squad. But we’ve been able to win obviously every game except the first leg. We have performed very well tonight and it’s what we deserved, to be honest.
On what pleased him most about tonight’s display…
The win! But, no, everything really. We never gave them too many chances, if any; they had a free-kick early doors, to be fair. But other than that, we kept them at bay, we didn’t really give them too many chances and we created a couple ourselves. Diogo’s first goal was outstanding from him, the type of player he is. And again the second goal, he has done outstanding again. He is a world-class player in possibly the best form he’s found himself in at the club so far. Hopefully more goals for him and hopefully we’ll be able to get a win in the final.
On providing two more assists…
I know the number [this season] is good. It’s the standard I set myself, it’s where I expect to be. I want to create and provide for the team and find myself in positions to be able to do that. I’ve been able to create two more today. It’s about whoever is on the end to go and finish it off – Diogo has done excellently with the two today.
On playing a final in front of fans after lifting the Premier League title without them…
Very good. It’s what we want. It wasn’t quite the same when we lifted it at Anfield in an empty stadium. But those things happened, there’s nothing we could have done about it. It has been a bit of a while for us to lift a trophy, last season not being able to lift one. It’s good for us to be in a final, there’s an opportunity to go and do that. But there’s still 90 minutes plus anything else really, to go and do that against a top side.
