Liverpool Ladies defender Alex Greenwood this week attended the Liverpool Homeless Football Club ladies' five-a-side football tournament.

The competition in Kirkdale aimed to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and provide support and information to women across Merseyside.

England full-back Greenwood attended the all-ladies tournament to meet participating players before watching several of the games with coaching staff from the Liverpool County FA.

She said: “This is a fantastic event hosted by the Liverpool County FA which helps to raise awareness of ovarian cancer. It is a real privilege to support the tournament and meet many of those taking part.

“The standard of football on show was also brilliant, which highlights how women’s football across the country is developing at such a rapid level.”

Liverpool County FA football project officer (women’s and girls), Joe Ryan, said: “It was brilliant to be able to welcome Alex to today’s tournament in Kirkdale.

“This is a really important event for the Liverpool County FA and will hopefully assist with helping to raise awareness of ovarian cancer for females.”
