Miralem Pjanic insists he has not had contact with Liverpool over a £37m move to the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers flew out to Rome last week, sparking speculation that he had gone to lay the groundwork for a move.

It has been suggested that Rodgers sees Pjanic as the man he wants to replace Steven Gerrard in the Reds midfield.

Reports have suggested that the Anfield outfit were ready to pay Pjanic £160,000-a-week to swap Italy for England.

But the Bosnian international is thought to have doubts about making the move unless Liverpool can guarantee regular Champions League football.

He said: "It's not time to talk about a transfer, but there has been no contact [with Liverpool].

"I am only focused on Roma."

It now remains to be seen whether Liverpool step up their interest in Pjanic over the summer, or whether Rodgers was in Rome looking at other targets last week.
