Passionate Klopp can lead exciting new era
I thought Jürgen Klopp's performance in his opening press conference was 10 out of 10, writes John Aldridge.
He's a clever man – he's not soft – I like the way he talked about going to the restaurant with his wife and then posed for photos with the Liverpool people.
It showed another side to him and there are a few other managers who wouldn't have done that.
He knows what he wants and he wants to get his character out there.
He's very passionate – that a lot of other managers don't show – but I love to see.
His first week on Merseyside has been really impressive the way he's fronting it.
I'm really pleased that we've got someone in as soon as possible.
His credentials seem to be very good and Liverpool fans everywhere are looking forward to a new chapter in the club's history.
There's an expectancy for us to get back to playing exciting football.
Unfortunately we've got used to leaking goals and not scoring enough and we're all hoping he can atone for those things and work his magic.
Whether it's social media, friends or relatives – everyone is talking about Klopp and I've not heard one piece of negativity about him from anyone.
We all knew Brendan Rodgers was under pressure and it was always likely that something could happen.
From the beginning of the season when a manager has been given around £80million to spend on players then they're going to be expected to deliver.
It's also important to see what the younger players are capable of and it will have been a real boost for the Academy players on Saturday morning for the new manager to come down and watch them play at Kirkby.
Klopp will have stipulated his demands to the owners and backing in the transfer market himself if he wants to win the Premier League for us.
He's got his own reputation and will be able to entice a certain type of player and to get them he might need a little bit more money to get into the Champions League but that excites me.
Whether it's in January or the end of the season, I hope he gets the proper backing that he's going to require.
We're going to need some extra members to the squad but I think the current bunch are still a very decent collection of players that can get in the top four.
