Fowler: Klopp is building something special at Liverpool
Robbie Fowler believes that Liverpool will bounce back from their Capital One Cup final heartache.
The Reds went down on penalties to Manchester City on Sunday, denying Jurgen Klopp his first silverware as manager.
But Kop legend Fowler is convinced that the German has Liverpool heading in the right direction and is the right man for the job.
"Losing on penalties after such a gallant performance was a rough way to go down in a final that would have been a huge boost for the club had they won," Fowler wrote in his inaugural column in The New Day.
"This isn’t Klopp’s team as such but he’s brought his style and a winning attitude that is infectious. Even getting to Wembley was an achievement in itself.
"I genuinely believe the German is building something special. He’s a proven winner, and impresses me in every department. You hang on his every word. His record screams success. He is the right man for the job."
Fowler admits that Liverpool are struggling in the final third, but feels an improvement will come when key players find form and fitness in the weeks ahead.
"Goals are a problem, but exciting times are ahead with the often magical Philippe Coutinho and injury-ravaged Daniel Sturridge stringing some games together."
