Liverpool are ready to end their interest in Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell and turn their attention to Brazilian Douglas Santos.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is eager to improve his options at left-back and was thought to have made Foxes' youngster Chilwell his top target.

Liverpool have offered £7million for the England Under-21 international but the Premier League champions are not willing to accept less than £10million, a figure the Anfield outfit are not prepared to match.

Klopp could now drop his interest in Chilwell and look at other options, with Lorient's Raphael Guerreiro, Aston Villa full-back Jordan Amavi and Leeds defender Charlie Taylor having all been suggested as alternatives.

Reports in Brazil claim Liverpool are now looking at Atletico Mineiro's Douglas, who has been valued at around £7.7million.

The 22-year-old has just one international appearance under his belt but has done enough in South America to catch the eye of the Reds and Premier League rivals Arsenal, who are also looking for a new left-back.
