Liverpool remain confident of sealing a £30m move for Southampton’s Sadio Mane.

Express Sport revealed last month that the Senegalese forward had become Jurgen Klopp’s top target following Mario Gotze’s decision to remain at Bayern Munich.

Klopp has followed the progress of Mane, 24, since his spell at Red Bull Salzburg and discussions with Southampton are continuing.

Liverpool have already signed Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert from the South Coast club in recent seasons and Mane would be latest expensive capture.

Mane scored twice against Liverpool at St Mary’s last season as Klopp saw his side surrender a two-goal half-time lead to lose 3-2 and would add to glut of forward options at Anfield.
