Liverpool will reportedly have a scout in Finland tonight to watch Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.

The 20-year-old was a transfer target for the Reds and manager Jurgen Klopp in the summer.

However, they were forced to abandon their move with the Bundesliga side determined to keep their prized asset.

Georginio Wijnaldum was signed from Newcastle for £25million instead but reports in Germany suggest Klopp remains keen on Dahoud.

According to German publication Express, a representative from Liverpool will be in the stands to watch the midfielder play for Germany's under-21s against their Finnish counterparts.

The report says Monchengladbach rejected a £25m (30m euros) bid for Dahoud and sporting director Max Eberl insists the player is not for sale.

It is also alleged Dahoud's contract, which ends in 2018, has a release clause of £8.3m which can be triggered in 2017.

And as it stands Dahoud is refusing to extend his contract.
