Liverpool to reward Adam Lallana with new contract
Liverpool will look to secure Adam Lallana’s long-term future with the midfielder one of the next batch of players in line for a new contract.
Lallana has emerged as one of manager Jürgen Kloppp’s most trusted performers and scored his second league goal of the season in Saturday’s 4-1 rout of Leicester City.
He scored just four Premier League goals in the whole of last term.
His contribution followed his first England strike in the 1-0 win over Slovakia and continues an eye-catching start to the new season for the player.
Liverpool plan to make contact with Lallana’s representatives before the end of the year and begin discussions on an extension to his current deal which expires in 2019.
The England international is settled on Merseyside and will believe his future remains there with his influence integral to what Klopp is seeking to achieve.
Lallana was signed in the same summer as Germany midfielder Emre Can, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi and Alberto Moreno, who will all have two years remaining on their respective contracts at the end of the season.
