Georginio Wijnaldum set for scan ahead of United clash
Georginio Wijnaldum is expected to discover on Wednesday the full extent of the hamstring injury that has left him a major doubt for Liverpool’s match against Manchester United on Monday.
The midfielder has been ever-present for Jürgen Klopp’s team in the Premier League this season since joining from Newcastle United.
He limped out of Holland’s World Cup qualifying defeat by France on Monday with a problem in his right hamstring.
"It's tough to say because I never had a hamstring injury before. So I don't know (how bad it is)," he said.
"I will travel back to the club where I will receive treatment. Then we will see how bad it is."
Wijnaldum will be assessed by medical staff upon his return today before being sent for a scan.
The Dutch international is doubtful for the eagerly-awaited Premier League clash with United at Anfield.
Emre Can would be in line to step in should the 25-year-old fail to recover in time for the match.
Adam Lallana remains a doubt too as he has yet to resume training though has been receiving intensive treatment at Melwood.
