Liverpool behind PSG in race for Julian Draxler
Liverpool believe Paris Saint-Germain are strong favourites to sign Wolfsburg attacking midfielder Julian Draxler during the January transfer window.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the highly-rated Germany international but it appears unlikely the 23-year-old will make the move to Anfield.
PSG are currently in pole position to complete a deal for Draxler with Wolfsburg holding out for a fee of around £35million.
Draxler, who is also the subject of interest from Arsenal, joined Wolfsburg from Schalke for £30m in August 2015.
The 2014 World Cup winner told Bild: “I am in talks with a couple of clubs, but so far no decision has been made.
"We will all sit down and make a sensible decision that is suitable for us."
Draxler made what’s expected to be his final appearance for Wolfsburg in their 2-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday.
Klopp is looking for attacking reinforcements as he prepares to lose Sadio Mane to the Africa Cup of Nations.
A number of targets have been closely monitored in recent weeks with owners Fenway Sports Group prepared to back the manager in the transfer market to help ensure the Reds maintain a title challenge.
