Reds battling Man United for Forest teen
Liverpool are determined to win the race for Nottingham Forest's latest hot prospect Ben Brereton.
Strike starlet Brereton, 17, underlined his potential with a dramatic injury-time winner against Aston Villa to open his Forest account on Saturday.
Liverpool had a £2.5million approach for the Brereton rejected late in the January transfer window.
They will continue to monitor the teenager, who is also attracting interest from Manchester United, with a view to a summer move.
Liverpool have earmarked him as one for future and want him to join Ben Woodburn, 16, as a teenage striker on their books.
Forest sold winger Oliver Burke, 19, to Red Bull Leipzig last summer and are facing a battle to hold on to two more academy starlets this year.
As well as Brereton, Chelsea and Red Bull Leipzig are battling it out for 19-year-old midfielder Matty Cash.
