Liverpool ready to beat United in striker deal
Liverpool are hopeful of securing Ben Brereton’s signature ahead of rivals Manchester United, according to reports.
The Nottingham Forest striker has been attracting interest from the Premier League giants and he has already been tipped for a bright future.
Brereton made the headlines on Saturday when he netted a dramatic late winter against Aston Villa to score his first of the season.
And with the 17-year-old showing early glimpses of what he can do in the Championship, The Mirror claim Liverpool are hopeful of wrapping up a deal.
The Reds face competition from rivals United though, with both clubs hoping to put his name on their books in the summer.
The report claims Liverpool made an attempt to sign him last month with a £2.5m bid, but Forest rejected their attempts.
At 17-years-of-age, Brereton has only made three appearances for Forest this season.
The Championship outfit are keen to keep hold of their young striker though, having sold teenager Oliver Burke to Red Bull Leipzig last summer.
