Leipzig quote £26million for Naby Keita signature
RB Leipzig have told Arsenal and Liverpool it will cost them £26million if they hope to sign Naby Keita this summer, according to reports in Germany.
Both Premier League powerhouses have scouted the Guinea international this season, whose performances have been fundamental in ensuring his side have emerged as Bayern Munich’s closest challengers in the Bundesliga.
The 22-year-old midfielder revealed last August he held talks with Arsene Wenger but conceded he was not ready for a move to a club of Arsenal’s stature.
‘I had contact with Arsene Wenger, who spoke French to me,’ said Keita.
‘But Ralf has treated me like a son. He came to France in 2014 to sign me for Salzburg and I trust him entirely.
‘I joined RB because it is an exciting club with great potential. I didn’t want to move to a big Champions League club immediately. It’s still too early.’
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Wenger’s future, the Gunners are keeping tabs on the all-action midfielder and according to Sport Bild have been told it will take a bid of around £26million to finally land their man.
Arsenal will face significant competition from Liverpool, however, whose manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be a huge admirer of Keita, while Bayern themselves also harbour an interest.
