Reds in for Monaco star
Jurgen Klopp reportedly held talks with Monaco star Kylian Mbappe's representatives last month.
Kylian Mbappe is one of the hottest properties on the transfer market with Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid all linked with the striker.
Monaco are said to have already knocked back a number of record-breaking offers for the 18-year-old believed to be in excess of £100million.
However, French newspaper L'Equipe claim Liverpool are also in the hunt to sign the teenager.
And the report says Jurgen Klopp held talks with the France international's representatives last month in an attempt to get a deal done.
L'Equipe claim Klopp is promising Mbappe a starring role in Liverpool's squad and will use him as a focal point of the team.
The move would make sense with the Reds lacking an out-and-out striker following the demise of Daniel Sturridge this season.
Klopp has instead deployed Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi through the middle and Sturridge has been tipped to depart Anfield this summer.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss has also promised new signings, revealing last month a striker and winger would be a priority.
"We will bring in players, yes, of course. The squad will change in a few positions and we will still have young players," Klopp said.
"With the problems we had in January and February of course it was clear.
"The injury of Phil [Philippe Coutinho] in November, Sadio [Mane] not available in January, Danny Ings not in for a long time, Daniel Sturridge not at 100 per cent and then out.
"Should we have for this another striker, another winger? Yes, it felt like this in these moments."
L’Equipe also claim PSG made contact with Mbappe’s representatives but have been knocked back.
PSG sporting director Antero Henrique supposedly wants to meet Mbappe’s party in person to discuss a possible move.
"Should we have for this another striker, another winger? Yes, it felt like this in these moments."
