Liverpool are readying a club-record transfer bid for attacker Naby Keita, according to reports.

RB Leipzig slapped an astonishing £70million price tag on Keita after Liverpool enquired about his availability.

Keita is a favourite of Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool boss has told the club to do all they can to sign him this summer.

The Mirror claim Klopp’s determination has prompted Liverpool to prepare a bid to test the resolve of Leipzig.

The Reds will lodge a club-record bid less than two weeks after breaking their previous record with the signing of Mohamed Salah.

The offer will not meet Leipzig’s asking price, but it will be a significant bid as Liverpool hope the move will open the lines of communication with the German side.
