Dortmund face battle to keep Pulisic
Borussia Dortmund are desperately trying to tie Christian Pulisic to a new contract this summer - as Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich circle.
Pulisic, 19, is currently under contract until 2020 at the Westfalenstadion.
But having lost Ousmane Dembele last summer, and with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joining Arsenal, BVB are aware that the American international is now their biggest asset.
Sporting director Michael Zorc is set to meet with Pulisic and has admitted he has no intention of parting with the young midfielder in 2018.
"We plan well beyond the summer with him,” Zorc has declared.
Dortmund know that they are entering dangerous territory if they allow the youngster to enter the final two years of his contract without inking an extension - having previously been stung by Robert Lewandowski walking away from the club for nothing and Nuri Sahin leaving for a greatly reduced fee also.
They have already begun discussions with the Pulisic family over fresh terms.
According to SportBild Bayern bosses are keen on plundering Dortmund once more this summer, as they seek to replace veteran duo Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
Pulisic is fast-becoming one of the most wanted players in world football.
The young winger has impressed since breaking into the Dortmund senior side as a 17-year-old, making 80 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals.
He has also emerged as the United States’ leading player, scoring nine goals in 20 caps, and that has attracted Bayern to a player likely to cost far in excess of £50million.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp knows him well and Reds’ scouts have watched him a number of times over the last 18 months.
Klopp has shown little inclination to move away from No.1 targets during his time at Anfield, and with Coutinho money still available, could be forced into a concerted move sooner rather than later.
But they aren’t the only Premier League side keeping abreast of his situation, with Manchester United also monitoring his progress.
Jose Mourinho has added Alexis Sanchez to his attack this month but United are already making plans for more big-money moves this summer - particularly with Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to depart for America.
Additionally, for both United and Liverpool's American owners, Pulisic is seen as a huge addition from a commercial point of view.
He has already been described as football's "first American superstar" and his appeal in his homeland is only set to grow in the coming years.
