Liverpool have reportedly suffered a potential blow in any rumoured pursuit of Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

Many reports over the last few weeks have linked Jurgen Klopp with a move for the Brazilian shot-stopper in the summer - with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid also reportedly interested.

However, it's clear that Roma would be desperate to keep hold of one of their most in-form stars and new reports suggest that they could be taking that to the next stage.

Italian publication calciomercato.com claim that Roma or working on giving the Brazilian goalkeeper a new deal to stay at the club.

The report claims that Alisson is asking for €5m-per-season including bonuses, whilst the Serie A club would be looking to raise their player's release clause up to €90m to warn off any potential interest in the future.

Recently Roma goalkeeping coach Roberto Negrisolo spoke very highly of the Liverpool -linked 25-year-old, calling him the 'Lionel Messi of goalkeepers'.

“Is Alisson worth €50million (£45m)? Don’t be silly, he’s worth far more than that,” Negrisolo told Il Romanista.

“I don’t think many people have realised who Alisson is. This guy is a phenomenon. He is the number one of number ones. He is the Messi of goalkeepers, because he has the same mentality as Messi. He is a goalkeeper who can mark an era.

“There is absolutely no comparison with Gianluigi Donnarumma, because Alisson is extraordinary.

“The way he behaves in the goal, he reminds me of Dino Zoff. I’d also compare him to Michel Preud-Homme, who had the class of someone born to be a goalkeeper."
