Liverpool not interested in Timo Werner
Liverpool have no interest in RB Leipzig's Timo Werner with Jürgen Klopp not looking to sign a striker this summer.
Reports in Germany claimed that the Reds were looking to clinch a club record £90million deal for the highly rated frontman, who has netted 18 goals for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.
However, the ECHO understands that the 22-year-old Germany international doesn't feature on Klopp's wishlist.
Naby Keita will make the move to Anfield from Leipzig this summer but clubmate Werner won't be joining him.
Recruiting a centre-forward isn't on the agenda as Klopp is happy with the cover he's got for first choice No.9 Roberto Firmino.
Klopp intends to fast track talented teenager Rhian Brewster into the first-team squad ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. The exciting 17-year-old's season was cruelly ended by injury back in January.
He has since undergone operations both on his ankle and his knee but is making progress and is expected to return to fitness in July.
His spirits were lifted by Klopp's decision that he would do his rehabilitation programme at Melwood rather than the Kirkby Academy and he will remain at the first-team base.
Klopp is a massive fan of Brewster and expects the England youth international, who won the Golden Boot in England's U17 World Cup triumph last October, to feature heavily for Liverpool during pre-season.
As it stands, Danny Ings, Dominic Solanke and Brewster will provide competition and back-up for Firmino. Klopp will also have strikers Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi returning to Liverpool following loan spells.
