Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly made Marco Asensio one of his top targets - after failing in a stunning £160m bid for the Real Madrid man in the summer.

According to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda, the Reds will revive their interest in the Spanish international but will wait until the summer to make their move.

It is understood Real were reluctant to let any more big names go after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

But after a tough start to the season during which Asensio has been one of a number of under performing stars, Liverpool could finally land their man.

Inda told Spanish publication OK Diario: "This year, an offer of €180m came to Liverpool's Real Madrid for Asensio.

"The club said no because Cristiano left, but Klopp is in love with the player and will go for the player next summer."

The 22-year-old is likely to generate lots of interest if he does become available, and Juventus are already rumoured to be considering a January move which could undercut the Reds.

But the magnitude of Liverpool's reported bid last summer suggests they are serious about their interest in the player as Klopp pushes for a fresh approach.
