Liverpool on alert for £100m Marco Asensio move
Premier League clubs have been put on alert amid reports Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio could be sold in January - for an eye-watering £100million.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all said to have an interest in the 22-year-old Spaniard, who has struggled so far this season.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Real boss Julen Lopetegui is prepared to let him go - providing a club meets the asking price.
Asensio, who can play as a winger or an attacking midfielder, was expected to step up this season in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo's departure to Juventus.
However, he's struggled for form, scoring just once in 11 outings so far this campaign.
Regarded as a rising star in his homeland, Asensio has already played 18 times for his country.
Paris Saint-Germain, the current Ligue 1 champions, are also said to be admirers.
Convincing him to leave the Bernabeu might not be quite so straightforward, though.
Just weeks ago, he insisted he did not want to leave Real, explaining how he wanted to develop at the club.
Asensio said: "I've never had the intention to go anywhere.
"This is my third season. In this one I think I have continuity and more prominence, and I'm seeing [improvement in] the performances I'm doing."
