Liverpool have reportedly approached Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele over a summer transfer move.

Dembele, 22, has struggled to live up to his £93million price tag following a switch from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona in 2017, managing just 18 goals in 65 appearances for the Catalan giants.

Last season, Dembele’s poor attitude angered Barca officials as he turned up late for training on numerous occasions, but Jürgen Klopp is convinced he can get the best out of the Frenchman on Merseyside.

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool have ‘initiated contact’ with Dembele as Klopp looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the 2019-20 campaign, with Daniel Sturridge set to leave the club.

The report claims that Bayern Munich have also opened discussions with the World Cup winner following a failed move for Manchester City’s Leroy Sane.

However, Dembele is determined to prove himself at Barcelona and the La Liga champions are not keen on selling the France international.

Dembele has not even been swayed by Antoine Griezmann’s imminent move to Camp Nou which would appear to put his place under further threat.

Barca have made it clear that only an offer of £93m – what they paid for Dembele – would be considered this summer.
