Stunning time-lapse footage which captures Anfield's Main Stand expansion to date has today been released, as well as an extended montage of the building work in L4 so far.

The Reds announced on December 4, 2014 plans to add around 8,500 seats to the Main Stand, taking its capacity to over 20,000, and thereby increasing Anfield's overall capacity to around 54,000.

Once completed, at some point during the 2016-17 season, the expanded Main Stand will become one of the largest all-seater stands in Europe's top divisions.

Building work began on January 8 this year, and cameras were installed overlooking the site, in order to monitor the expansion process carried out by the club's construction partner, Carillion.

Meanwhile, work to erect the stand's new structure is also underway, with the first pieces of steel - around 4,800 tonnes worth - arriving on site last week.

Carillion has been busy preparing foundations to support the structure and work has now begun on assembling the frame of the stand, behind the existing hoardings within the former Main Stand car park.

After just a few days' work, the first section of the new structure now stands level with the height of the existing stand and will continue to be built behind and over the current stand, as matches are played at Anfield.

On completion, the expanded stand will reach 45 metres at its highest point, which is more than double the height of the current stand.
